In this case study I will demonstrate how the Co-op is doing accessibility at scale across multiple product teams using our 5-steps accessibility benchmarking process. I will explain why and how we do it, give a tour of our accessibility dashboard, talk about how the process has galvanised the teams around accessibility, discuss our relationship with our accessibility partner Fable and share some valuable lessons we learned along the way.

To meet its long-term accessibility goals, the Co-op has recently launched a new accessibility benchmarking program across its customer product teams. Through this process, we’ve created a dynamic accessibility community across our product teams, which has enriched, informed and ultimately improved the way we approach accessibility.I’ll explain the organisational and technical constraints we faced, how we're maximising our relationship with our strategic accessibility partners (Fable), and how team feedback is enabling us to continue making this process more streamlined and self-organised.

I will discuss the metrics we're using and I will show you how you can create a low effort, entirely manual accessibility dashboard that makes your progress and metrics visible to teams, stakeholders and leadership alike.

I will share tips on how to get accessibility tickets prioritised into your sprints or Kanban, and discuss how you can help your organisation improve, grow and mature their digital accessibility.
