Magnify 2023 takes place online from 6 November until 15 November

Magnify empowers and inspires designers and researchers to create equitable services and to transform the design and research fields to always centre equity. Our global community is foundational to our collective learning and influence.

Themes include:

  • Lived experience - having team members with lived experience is a powerful way to build inclusive services
  • Community - building reciprocal relationships with communities is foundational to equity in design and research
  • Building inclusive systems - learn how to scale inclusion across a large organisation
  • Research practices and approaching sensitive topics- hone your research practices by learning from speakers who ensure safety and accessibility
  • Workplace inclusion - recognise exclusion in the workplace, protect yourself or make the workplace more inclusive
  • Activities - join workshops and other activities across the conference to learn from others and reflect on your practice

Attend Magnify 2023

We have 5 ticket prices to meet you where you’re at:

  • General admission - the standard ticket price. It is intended for those with the capacity to pay the full rate.
  • Pay it forward - if you can, pay extra to help us provide tickets at a lower price for other participants and help us make this a success!
  • Student - For young people aged 24 and under regardless of if they are within formal education, as well as those who are formal students and unable to pay at the individual rate.
  • Pay what you can - Intended for those who do not have the financial means to register at the available registration tiers. Tickets are available at a sliding scale, or for free. Email us to receive this ticket.
  • Discounts for group tickets - For teams that want to bring multiple people to the conference to share learning, get 10% off 5-9 tickets, and 15% for 10+ tickets.

Our prices are at this rate because we are a community run conference trying to cover running costs of workshops and support contributors for their time.

Past events

In 2022, we ran monthly community events that brought members together to discuss their challenges with inclusive design and offer suggestions to tackle them.

In 2021 we ran our first conference that had topics surrounding psychological safety in research, making research and design more accessible, a panel on advocating for inclusion, diversity in the workplace, and explored case studies of inclusive projects.

Magnify plugged a huge gap in design and digital conferences, for an inclusive design event that is itself inclusive. It brought together practitioners from all over the world to share insights from different sectors and fostered a brilliant sense of community. I learned a lot about inclusive design and also made new, lasting friends – which is remarkable for an online event. And the team behind Magnify did this independently.
